Story
In September 2017, dad suddenly had a seizure. He was rushed to hospital for tests and scans and was diagnosed with a Stage 4 Glioblastoma (GBM). Around a week later he had brain surgery to remove the GBM. Dale came out of the surgery with severe speech difficulties, memory loss and was paralysed on the right side of his body.
For the next 18 months, our family made the most of the time we had with dad and made memories we will never forget. In February 2019, we celebrated his 58th birthday together and dad passed away a week later. Dale will always be remembered as a loving, hardworking, cheeky, kindhearted character with a beautiful smile, classic dance moves and a wicked sense of humour.
We couldn’t have navigated his brain cancer journey without the Mark Hughes Foundation and the beautiful Alisha. Alisha was always there to attend appointments, answer any questions, clarify information and support our family in any way she could. We look forward to trekking again this year for the third time to raise awareness on brain cancer and give back to an organisation that has done so much for our family.
