Story

4th July 2015, 5 days before my 30th birthday. The day everything changed.

A seizure on the soccer field out of the blue and 24 hours I was diagnosed with a Grade 2 brain tumour. 3 weeks later, awake brain surgery to remove as much as possible, followed by 6 months of chemotherapy. 2021 what remained of the tumour,  progressed to Stage 3 and another awake brain surgery followed by 33 rounds of radiation and 12 months of chemotherapy (daily- 5 weeks on, 1 week off)

During these years, my now wife (Rhali) , mother in law (Donna) and Aunty in Law (Robyn Norris-Gilmour) walked the initial Big 3 Trek for the Mark Hughs Foundation, and several others there after.

2023 when Rhali was 9 weeks pregnant, what is suppose to be a special and joyous time, I received the news I needed further chemotherapy for 12 months. I had a 8 week break for when our daughter, Iris was born.

Now I'm finally able to complete a MHF Big 3 Trek and my walking extraordinare, mother-in-law (Donna) is all prepped to haul me the entire way from Sydney to Newcastle. She is a walking weapon, and I will likely slow her down, but with her patience and guidance I'll be walking the 150km to raise funds for this horrible thing which is in my head and so many others.

Wish me luck!
